LiftATX
Driving past this gym, you would never in a million years think to stop and check it out. But let me tell you, this vibrant garage gym is worth trying out. Part indoors, part outdoors. Is it ridiculously hot in the summer here? Yes. Is it ridiculously cold in the winter here? Also yes. But people LOVE this place. They come more for the community than the actual gym equipment.
Plus if that doesn’t sell you, their social media is on the next level entertainment. Make sure to at least give it a view: @lift.atx

Los Campeones
This gym is a crowd favorite in the body building world. Even though it is located on the outskirts of Austin, people make the long commute every single day for their workouts. Plenty of beautiful, well-kept equipment in a large warehouse type building. There is a posing room too which is pretty sweet!

The Factory
We’re seeing green 💚 Factory Gym is a premier bodybuilding, powerlifting, and strongman training facility located in the greater South Austin area (lowkey kinda in a weird location lol). While on the smaller side, it is packed with quality equipment and top notch lighting (if you know, you know). All are welcome here - whether a competitor prepping to take the stage or someone just wanting to stay active, this is a great place for you to train.

Big Tex
Big Tex Gym is a veteran owned and operated family-friendly neighborhood gym located in North Austin, Texas that specializes in Powerlifting, Bodybuilding and Strongman. Okay, not going to lie, this is an either you love it or hate it type of gym depending on what type of body builder you are. I would describe them as intense.
But everyone is welcome and encouraged to reach their fitness goals. It has an old school feel and the regulars all know each other well. The main focus at Big Tex Gym is freedom. The freedom to train how you want, the freedom to be yourself.

Gameday Barbell
Okay, I would technically classify this gym as a powerlifter gym…but they do have a great section to use as a body builder. This space is HUGE and rarely packed. You will always find open equipment and it is all very well kept. It’s still fairly new in the Austin community and isn’t as well known as some of these others.

Metro Flex
Another warehouse gym absolutely packed with equipment. Metroflex Gym, on the northern outskirts of ATX, is renowned for its hardcore atmosphere and dedication to the sport of bodybuilding. With a no-nonsense approach, Metroflex Gym provides a haven for serious lifters. Equipped with an extensive range of free weights, power racks, and specialized machines, this gym caters to those seeking to build mass and strength.

Hyde Park Gym
If you prefer a more laid-back environment without compromising on equipment and expertise, Hyde Park Gym might be the perfect fit for you. This older gym offers a wide range of weightlifting equipment, including dumbbells, barbells, and resistance machines.
The outside is very unassuming and it may feel a little cramped (kinda feels like a dungeon?), but its a goodie. Keep in mind that a lot of the members are UT students since it is so close to campus.

Gold’s Gym
The OG of all bodybuilding gyms is good ol Gold’s. There are multiple locations throughout Austin and each is a good place to get your lift on. Each gym is filled with a more diverse crowd - you’ll get parents, grandparents, highschoolers, the whole lot. And most get very crowded during post work hours. But it’s a classic and what bodybuilder would I be if I didn’t add to the list.
